Little Wildhorse (Slot Canyon)
Goblin Valley
TA-DAH!
just kiddin, this is what it really looks like:
(I adore the above picture)
By the time we made our way to Moab it was almost midnight. The roads were dusty, winding, and very dark. Someone said, "Where are we?" and , as if on queue, a huge sign appeared saying "Hell's Revenge." Haha.
We found a sandy spot and set up our tent but it was extremely windy. Not only was the tent shaking wildly but the way the wind causes the sides/roof to slap against each other there were constant startling noises, like a piercing clap or crack.
Bradshaw told us that monsters were pushing on the sides of the tent and no matter how many times we reassured him it was the wind, he was shaking with fright. Every time the wind slapped against the tent, he yelped and jumped in my arms. Fortunately, once he fell asleep nothing disturbed him.
Olivia, on the other hand, thought it was the funniest thing to be sitting in the dark with everyone. She was wide-eyed and grinning from ear-to-ear. We tried a bottle and cuddling but nothing helped her fall asleep. By 2 or 3am we all lying down, trying to half-sleep, while she crawled back and forth over our bodies, panting with excitement and slapping our faces.
It was an adventurous night to say the least.

Oh I am SO jealous! We LOVE LOVE LOVE Moab! It's where we honeymooned. I love that picture that you love too. :) We have never been to Slot Canyon and Joseph has never been to Goblin Valley. We definitely need to go. What a sad story about camping in the wind. Poor Bradshaw. And I could TOTALLY see Luke being just like Olivia and crawling all over the place all night. :) What fun.
Oh my heck. I've totally been backpacking in Goblin Valley and I love the slot canyons! I love canyoneering. Seriously. Now I really want to plan a trip next month to go backpacking.
Love the pictures! Especially that one of Olivia in the foreground. She's so precious. I love Moab...we miss not being able to go.
I love little wild horse! It can get SO windy down there! We found a pretty good place that protects you from the wind. It get's crowded though, on busy weekends. Looks like you had fun!
Oh my gosh! That sounds like you guys had a blast! Despite the fact that a cute little one was crawling around and being happy while everybody was sleeping! haha! I Loved the cute cuddle picture! Olivia playing in the Dirt and giving you the cutest smile ever!! CUTE! Bradshaw is so funny with the monsters remark! LOL ;)
Oh I LOVE Moab! I hiked delicate arch last year for my birthday. Seriously so beautiful! It looks like everyone had a really good time. :)
Looks like so much fun! I love the picture of Lindy and Olivia!
@ Erika: The Slot Canyons really are beautiful and just 2hrs South of Provo, so maybe you could go next time you're in town? The highlight of the trip for Bradshaw definitely was Goblin Valley. He was shrieking and giggling having the time of his life running around and playing hide-n-seek; so I could picture your kids really loving it too.
@Jordyn Delicate Arch was by far the highlight of Arches NP. It was so surreal--I'd imagine that would be an awesome birthday! Did your whole family go?
Nope just me and a close friend, it was a surprise. I wanna go back so bad, Nic hasn't gone since he was little.
