books, books, books!

A few days ago I said, "Bradshaw what would you like to do when it's your birthday?"
Bradshaw: "Hmmm....go a libwawy!

There are so many clever, entertaining hilarious children's books out there.  Here are a few of our favorites:

We love Mo Willems

I love anything Don & Audrey Wood (the art is beautiful)

The Skippyjon Jones series
It's about a siamese cat that thinks he's a chihuahua.
Dustinn reads it with a Spanish accent and I'm practically in tears it's so funny.

Anna Dewdney's Llama Llama series
This reads so rythmically and the message is really good
(Penny you've introduced us to so many books, recipes, activities, ideas that are amazing!)

Ted Arnold's Parts series

And Seuss, of course

Antoinette Portis'
reminded me a little of The Brave Cowboy and even Harold's Purple Crayon.  Love it.

We'd love to find some new treasures.  What are YOUR favorite children's books?

We love new books! I totally agree with the books by the Woods. I will have to look up most of the other ones.

We like "Pirates Don't Change Diapers" by David Shannon.

"I Love You , Stinky Face" by Lisa McCourt

The "How Do Dinosaurs.." series by Jane Tolen and Mark Teague

"Russell the Sheep" by Rob Scotton

"Boy of Mine" by Jabari Asim (board book) There is also a "Girl of Mine" board book, but I haven't read it.

"Counting Kisses" by Karen Katz (for Olivia)

You have to get "Fancy Nancy" for Olivia. She'll love it when she's older. We also like "Golidilicious" by VIctoria Kann.

it's so fun to read to bradshaw and olivia (olivia's learning from her big brother--she loves sitting next to bradshaw and flipping pages in a book).

@Erika.
Yay! Thank you!

We like "I Love You , Stinky Face."

We've read the "How Do Dinosaurs.." books. They are really well illustrated and a clever way to teach behavior. The only complication is ya know how the bad examples come before the good? Bradshaw would laugh at and just remember the bad examples.!! Silly boy.

Your mom gave us Counting Kisses. I love it. Bradshaw will follow it too (ie count the kisses he's giving Livia as we go through the book.)

I CAN'T WAIT to check out the rest, espcially Fancy Nancy and Goldilicious.
See you soon!!!

You have me wanting to go out and check out kiddie books immediately!!! These look so cute!

My favorite book as a child was "A Fly Went By".... I re-read it last time I was at my parents and was like, "Oh...still love it!" :)

"Fancy Nancy" books even though it's a girl, it is a really cute book that teaches different words definitions like unique, merci(yes, I know it has that in Fancy nancy goes to the museum.), My sisters like "if you give a moose a cookie", "If you give a pig a pancake", or other books like that. Kendra, loved reading her big "Dick and Jane" book to Abbie when she was in preschool and kindergarten. :D

Okay, we check out some of your suggestions from the library. Jack loved 'Heckedy Peg', Seth thinks it's a bit violent for a children's book (just kidding) But we reeeally loved 'Parts'.
Thanks for the recommendations!

Thank you for all the wonderful recommendations!! We're going to check them out tomorrow. :)

PS @Dani. Hmmm I wonder what that says about me if Heckety Peg was one of my fave books growing up. :/ haha. That's an example of some fierce Mama love though.
