When I came out to the kitchen this morning, Dustinn had left little pink notes everywhere! And this picture is just the tip of the iceberg! I opened the cupboard to grab a bowl and there's one in the bowl, on a mug, on a plate. There's one on the milk carton, the cereal box & others sprinkled throughout the apartment.
I gathered up my faves to put in "our book."
[What book? Dustinn and I decided we wanted to marry each other after dating for just a few weeks during BYU Spring term and then I went home for the summer, got really sick & my dad saved my life. (I know that sounds overly dramatic, but it's true. Several doctors have told me that they're surprised I survived.) Anyway, that changed my perspective--I felt very fragile. I felt like I wasn't ready to get married because I needed my parents to take care of me. For the next year, Dustinn & I were on and off...but I always missed Dustinn. Anyway, you know the ending; but that first summer, even before I got sick, Dustinn wrote me a several "love letters" that I've kept in a book.]
I'm going to add the notes to that book.
Thanks for making my day!

How cute is that?! Very romantic. I bet it DID make your day!
As for you almost dying...my goodness. How did I not know THAT story? So glad your dad intervened...Virginia just wouldn't be the same without you! :)
PS...think we'll get totally flooded out at the campout? :)
PPS...the apartment looks absolutely sparkling. :)
How cute! He always finds a way to do something like that!
:) The Captain did something similar for Valentine's one year and I still have the notes. :) So fun!
Yeah, I didn't know the dying story either! I do remember how sweet it was that Dustinn was working so hard to snag you. :) We're so glad he did!
Thank you Amber! I wish I could Mary Poppins snap my fingers and make everything tidy & clean itself. =)
I just heard scattered thunderstorms. If it's raining you we can do games in our tent?
Well, I can kinda be a drama queen. (Best not to open the floodgates, right Dustinn? haha)
Here's the story:
I had bad stomach pain while my family was vacationing in Brazil. I assumed it was from drinking the water.
It got worse and I became very weak. Then I was lying on a bed in a dark hotel room and both my parents were over in the corner making international calls. A bus in the dark of the night. A tiny little airport on the first flight to Sao Paulo.
My dad's friend met our flight and drove us straight to hospital, he stayed by our side translating the Portuguese.
My appendix had ruptured 24-48 hours earlier; they sent me into surgery immediately. Because of the gravity of the infection, the doctor said if I had arrived a few hours later he wouldn't have been able to do anything for me.
But here I stand fit as a fiddle. I've had complications, but a surgeon here said the staples in my stomach where repairs were made and no surgeon in the US could have done a more miraculous job.
Good times. Good times.
I learn more about you with every post!!
Wow, that's incredible! And I'm sure now that you're married you know that Dustinn would have done the same for you!
Aw, that's so cute and complete cheese at the same time. I love it. :] Did Dustinn go crazy with the notes so there might still be some hidden ones that will show up in like a month or so? Ha. Or did he just keep it simple?
I'm glad you're okay from your near death experience.
I have to go save my mom. Jasper is eating her ice cream.
BAH! I love it! I LOVE YOU GUYS!! and i am SO sorry (still!) that we weren't able to get together! But hopefully soon :) i'm gonna email you right now :) love you and miss you! you are so sweet, val! i feel so lucky to have a good friend like you!
How sweet, Dustinn! Who knew that the big brother that sat on his little sister and farted, would be such a romantic. Very sweet, I love to see you happy :)
I have a "book" of love letters from Seth too. Actually, it's a giant zip-loc... I should make it into a book though!
Stef: yeah, I've been finding little notes still...so maybe there will still be some when you come. haha
Erika: Yes, Dustinn is a natural protector (as is Captain...when you explained how it's just easier to get things done when the two of you are team I knew exactly what you meant.) Dustinn takes really good care of us. Early in the pregnancy with Bradshaw he'd drive the car only 5 mph because he didn't want anything to shake or bump us. Such a funny memory. The other cars on the road hated us.
